We have just experienced a wonderful regional conference broadcast to all stakes in Utah County and Heber County. Many thanks to Elder Clayton for reminding us to become deeply rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ so that we, like the trees who drank deeply from the water available will flourish, rather than withering like the weeds that were just on the surface. The healing sanctuary promised to us as we bring our broken hearts to Sacrament Meeting and truly worship our Savior through consistent religious practices such as scripture study, prayer, repentance, and service is a great blessing to all of us.
Sister Carole M. Stephens of the General Relief Society Presidency reminded us of the assurance that we are sons and daughters of a loving God and that personal, spiritual preparation is key to maintaining the spirit of Christ in our lives. She also asked the question, "What gifts am I willing to give?"
Elder Munk also admonished us, in the UCSA fireside Sunday evening, to take personal responsibility for our church experience, to recognize the great value we can bring to our ward family and to commit ourselves to reaching out to others in love and service. Even very simple acts such as a smile or a greeting can lift another's spirits, and in so doing, we also are richly blessed. Do not underestimate what you bring to your ward family. Be willing to give of yourself.
